Macphail Farm Update
On October 7th, 2011, a symposium was held at the homestead to look at potential development of an agriculture component at Macphails.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. George McRobie has been made a patron of the Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead.
Each year we plan to have a Guest Lecturer for the “Annual George McRobie Lecture Series”. So far we have been honored to host Mr. Patrick Holden, all the way from Wales in 2011, who spoke on sustainable small-scale farming, and Mark Lapping, from Maine, U.S. in 2012, and in 2013, Robert Paterson from Quebec. DVD’s of all lectures are available for sale ($10.00) from the Homestead.
The Board has decided to partner with Community organizations such as Antique Tractor Association and 4-H clubs, as well as with Orwell Corner, from time to time.
A very successful Homestead Organic Garden was completed in 2013 with the generous assistance from Vesey’s Seeds Ltd. who sponsored seeds, plants, and garden equipment. Board and staff members look forward to the 2014 season.
Harry Baglole, Richard MacEwen, and Karen Murchison are members of the Sir Andrew Macphail Foundation Board of Directors. This trio will form the Farm/Garden Committee to oversee and arrange partnerships for this endeavor. Additional members will also be a part of this newly formed Committee.
